 The SDLC in full being, Software Development Life cycle, is the process of planning, writing, and modifying software. It refers to a set of procedures, methods, and techniques used in the development of software. The approach is used by developers when designing and writing modern software for computers, cloud deployment, mobile phones, video games, and other platforms. (coursera.com 2023)

Importance of SDLC.

  1. Helps one understand their requirements.
  2. Identifies risks at an early stage.
  3. Helps one to deliver solutions in stages.

7 phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. (Robert Preston 2023).

1. Planning

Planning assists systems engineers and developers in determining whether a new system will help a company achieve its strategic goals.

2. Analyse.

Allows one to perform random assessments, checks and come up with a final solution that meet's a client's need.

3. Design.

Allows you to create a product for your project after identifying key features required to define your system.

4. Development.

This is a great opportunity for one to do practical checks on your project as it develops to be able to check for any unknown or known errors for effective use to a consumer.

5. Testing.

This is done before formally releasing products to clients, checking if your objectives have been met.

6. Implementation.

This is the formal introduction of your product to consumers for them to use through sale, or to be used by an organization for a larger group.

7. Maintenance.

This is mostly used during the use of a certain product or service by a consumer, providing daily, weekly or monthly updates and adjustments of the product to the consumer.
