7. Invention of WWW and E-commerce.
INVENTION OF WWW.
According to the web foundation. com(2022), the founder and creator of the world wide web(WWW) is a British Computer Scientist known as Sir Tim-Berners lee. he was born in London, a son of two parents who were also known to be one of the greatest Computer Scientist in Great Britain. When Berners Lee was young, he was so interested in trains that he had a model in his bedroom.
Berners Lee stated, " In those days, there was different info on different computers, but you had to log on to different computers to get at it. Moreover, sometimes you had to learn a different program on each computer, and more often it was easier to ask people when they were having coffee."
Due to this problem, Tim saw this as an opportunity to solve it. According to his research, Tim realised that millions of computers were being connected together through the fast-developing internet and could share information by exploiting technology called Hypertext
According to Aaron Haynes(2021), he says Hypertext is a method of organizing information in a digital format that uses most traditional text structures as enhanced by the numerous linkages. in March 1989, Tim laid out a vision for what would become a web in a certain document called Information Management. Tim shared his idea and research with his current boss at that time, Mike Sendall, who turned it down by Mike stating that it was vague but exciting. However, his boss gave him time to work on it and he began working on it using a NeXT computer, one of Steve Jobs's early products back in the day.
In October 1990, Tim wrote about three fundamental technologies namely;
1. HTML - Hypertext Markup Language.
2. URI - Uniform Resource Identifier.
3. HTTP - Hypertext Transfer Protocol.
By the end of 1990, Tim wrote his first webpage editor, WorldWideWeb.app, and the first web server httpd.
